Dr. Wagner directs the Developmental Language & Cognition Lab. She studies the connections between early language and early conceptual abilities.

Kristin earned her BA in Psychology and Spanish from the University of Michigan in 2007. She is now a doctoral student in Developmental Psychology at OSU. She is currently working on projectsinvestigating pragmatic development in children with autism and dialect perception in adults with autism. She is also developing research to explore how aspects of language (like accent or dialect) affect a speaker's credibility. In her free time, Kristin likes to spend time with her guinea pig Sigmund, play badminton, speak Spanish, and travel whenever possible.


Carolyn Dahlgren

Carolyn is a doctoral student in Developmental Psychology at the Ohio State University.  She earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology, with minors in Biology and Educational Studies, from Bryn Mawr College in 2006.  Her undergraduate thesis explored the communicative and cognitive functions of gesture. Before beginning her doctoral program, she was a research assistant at the McLean Psychiatric Hospital.

Richa
Richa Deshmukh

Richa is a PhD student in the department of Speech and Hearing Science. Her research interest is early diagnosis and intervention in Autism.


Sharon Ross

Sharon is a PhD candidate in Department of Linguistics at OSU.

Sarah is a BA/MA student majoring in Linguistics with a minor in Computer Science. She is interested in the mechanisms in the brain that help children acquire their first language and how these mechanisms compare to the ones used while acquiring a second language. Her current thesis investigates how children make use of intonational patterns to aid in the comprehension of spoken language. When she is not researching, she enjoys tea, yoga, drawing, and performing in Renaissance Faires. Her favorite color is red with turquoise coming in at a close second.

Elaine
Elaine Aldana

Elaine is an undergraduate research assistant double majoring in
Psychology and Biology. She is currently working on her honors
thesis, which will study how an adult's language and accent affects
how well children imitate the adult's actions. In her free time, she
enjoys reading books and watching the occasional trashy television show, and has recently taken up karate and tap dancing.


Hartman Brawley

Hartman is a third year Linguistics undergraduate with a Japanese minor. He is currently doing working for a few projects in the DLCL and has plans to begin an Honors Thesis with Dr. Laura Wagner, Dr. Sherri Speer, and Dr. Kiwako Ito that will hopefully continue into his MA study. In his spare time he enjoys the odd swim, drawing, Silent Hill, and Tomb Raider. Hartman is also the Chair of the GLBT First Year Cohort through OSU's Multicultural Center.

Emily
Emily Dorrian

Emily is majoring in Linguistics, with a minor in Slavic and East
European Languages and Literature. Inspired by a study run in the lab, she is investigating the historical development of English deverbal nouns for her Honors Thesis.  Any time left over from work and classes she spends being artistic director of the Medieval & Renaissance Performers' Guild at OSU (Renaissance Faire first Saturday in May!), staying in touch with the Whedonverse, or visiting her parents, three younger siblings, and puppy "Albus Severus Dumbledog".


Cie Cie Gillison

Cie Cie Gillison is a Fourth Year psychology major looking to further her education next year in a graduate program for School Psychology or Higher Education. She is very active in the campus community as a Resident Advisor, University Ambassador, and worked this summer with OSUs Orientation program. She is extremely excited to take on this new research opportunity and is looking forward to a great senior year.


Suzanne Van Horn

Suzanne is a third year undergraduate majoring in Psychology and English. Suzanne is pursuing an Honors Thesis on children's comprehension of linguistic register. She is involved in Honors Ambassadors, EUGO, ASL Club, and the Psychology Honors Research Mentorship Program. In her spare time she enjoys reading, running, and playing Sudoku.


Darya Task

Darya is a second year undergraduate pursuing a dual-degree program in Psychology and Spanish. She is a member of Psi Chi, ALD/PES honors society, Psych Club, and Swing Club. In her free time she enjoys playing tennis and jamming on piano, drums, or guitar.
